I was diagnosed with ADHD* when I was 14 when i began to have trouble in school. I am currently also battling with depression. I tried Ritalin** but had to stop because it gave me palpitations. I am now taking “escitalopram” for depression. I also have anxiety and sometimes panic attacks. Those are starting to minimize with the help of psychiatry.
So I know exactly what it is mental illness and how people suffer
Not every disability can be seen. I had no one to help me when I was suffering. I was bullied and criticized and condemned because no one, not even my family understood my problems.
My only support was my therapist and my psychotherapist
My psychotherapist helped me build up my self confidence. She helped me build trust and let go of my grief. I don’t see her as a psychotherapist, I see her as a friend. She taught me many ideas for letting go of grief – empty chair therapy, writing letter, speaking about it.
Nobody still understands me, but I try to understand everyone’s point of view
I got insomnia too and had to increase the dosage of my medicine to sleep and now it is fine. I also went for treatment of my ADHD. I have seen many doctors and tried many treatments.
I struggle at work because I can’t focus but I do my best
I have had suicidal thoughts but some force always stops me
I am sharing with you because I want people to know that physical pain and mental illness are the same. Many people are suffering alone without help, so let us inspire them to open up and get help and relief from their pain.
