“I had a very beautiful and happy life till that day after which everything went wrong.”
That day is the day where all the negative emotions became uncontrollable, where contemplation suicide became more and more strong, where auto-medication with alcohol and drugs was the only issue. Since, the journey has been long and hard with many relapses: suicides attempts, multiple hospitalizations, different diagnosis, many medications…finally, after years, depression and anxiety are controlled…for now!
But, is it possible to have happiness back again? Is happiness possible in spite of living with a mental disease?
LAMSA’s note: Psycho-social consequences and distress are partly obstacles to happiness when living with mental illness. However, love, optimism, hope and support are important factors in the life of the person struggling, to help her becoming resilient and happy again.
